Te Kōnohete 2019
Te Kōnohete is a community, family and public sector event to be held in Wellington on the 2 November 2019.
An event to see families come together to celebrate the wonderful culture we have through-out Aotearoa, and to celebrate the support and success of the public sector. Hosts for 2019: Te Taura Whiri i Te Reo Māori, Te Tumu Paeroa and Te Puni Kōkiri |
Whakapapa
In 2004 an occasion was proposed within the Ministry of Justice by staff who were engaged in learning te reo and waiata Māori. An event to celebrate culture, to allow the public sector to engage with others and support each other’s diversity, and an event that was a positive celebration. It was from this initiative that Te Kōnohete was born. As with all great things it started small, with the event later growing to include rōpū from the wider public sector and is now an annual event that brings together multiple agencies under the mantle of kapa haka and whanaungatanga. |
Take part!
We are extending the invite to all in the public sector to join us in 2017 and make this the best event on the public sector calendar. Let's show the world how great it is to be in the public service, and celebrate the successes the public service has had for the country. Some organisations get up on the stage for 10 minutes and perform, others bring stalls to share with the public, some send things along to the children’s areas, and others do it all! |
